Cheesy Garlic Bread

Here’s a crowd pleaser to serve alongside just about anything! This cheesy garlic bread will having you asking for seconds (and thirds…)

My Uncle Dave made this during one of my visits back to Seattle. I knew right away that I had to make it for my Iowa family, it was a huge hit and an instant favorite among all ages. My niece (7) says its her favorite bread ever, can’t argue with that.

WHAT’S IN CHEESY GARLIC BREAD?

Bread. Pick up a couple of fresh French (or Italian) loaves from your grocer’s bakery section. You want it to be soft but sturdy enough to hold the toppings.

Spread. We will mix together mayonnaise, butter, garlic, and green onions. High in flavor, not low in calories!

Cheese. Top it all off with freshly grated asiago and Colby Jack cheeses! You can substitute parmesan for the asiago and cheddar or Monterrey Jack for the Colby Jack.

METHOD

STEP 1: Preheat the oven to 375. Split the French loaves in half, lengthwise and place on a sheet pan.

STEP 2: Mix together a stick of softened butter, 1 cup mayo, 6-8 minced garlic cloves, and 1 bunch of chopped green onions to make the spread. Spread it evenly over the cut side of the loaves.

STEP 3: Sprinkle the cheese over the spread in an even layer.

STEP 4: Bake at 350 for 7 minutes and then broil for 3 minutes or until browned and bubbly (keep a close eye on it). Cut into slices, serve!
